According to media reports the film was made with a budget of Rs 10 crore. Dating back in time it was considered as the most expensive film ever to be made it even exceeded the budget of the film Shaan. Why did Razia Sultan turn out it be a flop? Before Razia Sultans release the film created hype around the viewers yet it flopped so badly. He promised that he would pay every single penny after the film was released however the film made a massive 80% loss. Due to this many producers and businessmen lost their money and Amrohi had to pay from his pocket. When Kamal Amrohi thought of making another film after Razia Sultan A report from IMDb revealed that Razia Sultan put the Hindi cinema industry in debt for a while. After a while Hindi cinema got back on track however Kamal Amrohi couldnt recover from his losses. After Razia Sultan Amrohi decided to do another film Majnoon with Rajesh Khanna but it never happened due to financial restrictions. After his death in 1993 Razia Sultan was his film.
