Removal of Aadhaar as proof of date of birth: According to a circular issued by the EPFO on January 16, Aadhaar card will no longer be accepted as a valid proof of date of birth.
UIDAI clarification: UIDAI had earlier stated in a circular on December 22, 2023 that Aadhaar number is useful for identity verification, but it does not serve as a valid proof of date of birth.
Purpose of Aadhaar: The UIDAI emphasises that the purpose of Aadhaar is to establish residence through a unique 12-digit identification number, which is issued after an intensive enrolment process incorporating demographic and biometric data.
Date of Birth Record: The date of birth listed on the Aadhaar card is based on the information provided by the individual during enrolment or update.
