EPFO Name Change: Some amount is deducted from the salary of private sector employees and stored in the provident fund scheme.
New Delhi : The central government has established the Employees' Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) for the private sector employees. When an employee joins a private company, a certain amount is deposited in his name as provident fund in EPFO. 12 percent of the basic salary of the concerned employee is deposited as EPF. This amount is known as employee contribution. On the other hand, 3.67 percent amount is deposited in the employee's PF account by the concerned company. Other amount is deposited as pension. While, the remaining 8.33 percent is deposited in the EPS account. Often the EPFO registration work is outsourced to a third party company and there is a possibility of errors. EPFO has released a video regarding change of name, date of birth. According to that video, if any changes are to be made, a joint affidavit has to be given by the employee and the concerned company.
Let's know the name change process
The process of correcting name, date of birth, gender, marital status, parent's name in PF record is easy. Facility to change name, gender and date of birth is available. You will have only one chance to update name, date of birth, gender in your career. There are two chances to update marital status. It is important to know what documents are required if you want to change your name. Aadhaar card, passport, death certificate, birth certificate. Identity Card issued by Government Establishment, Bank Passbook with Photo, PAN Card, Ration Card, Voter ID, Pensioner Card, National Health Insurance Scheme, Caste Certificate, Gazette Notification for first change of name is required and it must have old name and new name.
Name changes are divided into major changes and minor changes. Two of the above documents are required for minor change and three documents for major change. If more than two letters are changed in the name, the name will be extended and it is called major change. A change in date of birth of more than three years will be considered a major change. So, a change up to three years is known as minor. While changing the date of birth three documents have to be submitted for major change and two documents for minor change. EPAFO considers minor changes if the account holder wishes to change the gender of the record.
