Bollywood stars and Ganpati Bappa festival have always had a deep connection and many celebrities believe that this connection makes them a part of Mumbai. Ganesh Chaturthi is the biggest festival of Mumbai as well as the whole of Maharashtra. In the early days, this festival was celebrated on a large scale in the Konkan region of Maharashtra. People who came to Mumbai from their villages to work liked to go home during this festival, but it was not possible to go to the village every year by taking leave, so some people started celebrating this festival in Mumbai itself. So some people considered Mumbai as their home and started worshipping Ganpati here.

Now this festival is celebrated all over the country. But this festival is also special for Mumbaikars because here in the public Ganeshotsav, Bappa is welcomed with the same love as people welcome Bappa coming to their homes. Bollywood has also easily adopted this tradition of Mumbai, so let's take a look at Bollywood's Ganeshotsav.

Many Bollywood stars believe that whatever they are today is all due to the blessings of Ganpati Bappa. No matter which religion or caste the film stars belong to. Many celebrities in Bollywood install Ganpati in their homes and during that time they leave all their work and get busy with Ganpati Bappa.

Ganpati comes to most celebrity homes for one and a half days

Due to their faith and devotion, many Bollywood stars install Ganpati in their homes. Because Ganpati puja has to be done very carefully and with full rituals, no mistake should be made in it, that is why most actors keep Ganpati puja in their homes for one and a half days. Ganpati comes to the homes of artists like Salman Khan, Shahrukh Khan, Sara Ali Khan, Sanjay Dutt, Govinda, Jackie Shroff, Madhuri Dixit, Ankita Lokhande, Shilpa Shetty, Janhvi Kapoor, Shraddha Kapoor, Bharti Singh for one and a half days and for one and a half days, there is an atmosphere of celebration and festivity along with worship in everyone's home.

Bappa of celebrities

salman khan He used to worship Bappa in his house Galaxy Apartment. Actually his mother is from a Marathi family and hence festivals of both Hindu and Muslim religions are celebrated in his house. Now due to lack of space, instead of Salman Khan's Galaxy Apartment, he celebrates every festival at his sister Arpita's house. Like Salman Khan, Ganpati is worshipped for one and a half days in Shahrukh Khan's house too.

Shraddha Kapoor said in an interview that when Ganpati Bappa comes to our house, guests keep coming and going throughout the day and at night the whole family and friends sing a lot of bhajans and film songs of Ganpati together. Apart from the bhajans of the Lord, there is an atmosphere of fun and devotion throughout the night on songs like Deva Shri Ganesh, Ganpati Bappa Morya, Deva Ho Deva Ganpati Deva. Such an atmosphere is seen only when Ganpati Bappa visits their house.

A few years ago, during a film promotion, Akshay Kumar had said that he also believes in Ganpati Bappa a lot and Bappa comes to his house for one and a half days. Akshay Kumar said that I have been celebrating Ganpati festival ever since I came to Maharashtra. Earlier I used to go to my friends' house for Ganpati Bappa. Now I keep Ganpati in my house too and worship Ganpati Bappa with all my heart.

Ekta Kapoor believes in Bappa

Ganapati Bappa also arrives at Jitendra and Ekta Kapoor's house for 5 days. It is worth mentioning that Ekta Kapoor is a great devotee of Ganapati Bappa and she has kept the idol of Ganapati Bappa for worship in Balaji Telefilm's studio. For a long time, Ekta Kapoor used to go on a pilgrimage every Tuesday to Siddhivinayak temple in Dadar, Mumbai, 17 km from Andheri. Apart from Jitendra and Ekta Kapoor, Ganapati also arrives at Nana Patekar's house for 5 days. The celebration of Bappa's festival is done with complete simplicity in his house and Ganapati is installed in his Mumbai Dadar house, where his entire family gathers to celebrate Ganesh Utsav.

Bappa also comes to the studio

Like senior actors like Nana Patekar and Jitendra, Ganpati arrives in many big studios of Mumbai for 5 days, 7 days or 11 days. 65 years ago in 1959, V Shantaram (Shantaram Rajaram Vankudre) was the first to publicly start Ganesh Utsav in Bollywood. V Shantaram was the producer-director who installed a grand statue of Ganesh ji on Ganesh Utsav in his studio Raj Kala Mandir. This statue was about 13 feet tall. After him, the trend of celebrating public Ganesh Utsav in studios started. Even though V Shantaram started this festival in the film industry. Actually, what happened was that a 13-foot statue was used in the song 'Chal Ja Re Hat Natkhat' of the film 'Navrang' and then V Shantaram decided that he would worship this statue every year on Ganesh Chaturthi. Ganesh Chaturthi was celebrated with great pomp in this studio for 11 days. But the right touch of glamour was added to it by Raj Kapoor's RK Studio.

Raj Kapoor established Lord Ganesha in RK Studio in Chembur, Mumbai. Along with the studio staff, many big faces of the industry used to come to the studio to see Bappa during this festival. On the day of immersion, all the men of the Kapoor family used to join Bappa's immersion procession on the road. A crowd of people used to gather in Chembur area of Mumbai to see them. Ganpati was established in RK Studio for 11 days. Then this studio caught fire and the Kapoor family decided to sell this studio. 6 years ago in the year 2018, Bappa came to this studio for the last time. When RK Studio was locked, Neetu Kapoor and Ranbir Kapoor vowed to carry forward this tradition. Hence, this time also Ganpati has been established in Neetu Kapoor's house.

Apart from these studios, Ganesh Utsav is also celebrated in many studios like Natraj, Filmalaya, Filmistan and Mumbai's Film City. But here, not the actors or the studio owners but the unit people and employees working here organize this festival.
