Famous for playing Angoori Bhabi in the popular TV series Bhabi Ji Ghar Par Hai and as the Bigg Boss Season 11 winner, Shilpa Shinde recently came up with allegations of being sexually assaulted as a young girl by a Bollywood director. This charge follows the release of the Justice Hema Committee Report, which has led a number of performers from the Malayalam, Tamil, and Telugu cinema industries to come out with distressing stories of sexual harassment and assault. Shinde’s assertions join the mounting litany of disclosures rocking the entertainment industry.

Under the guise of an audition, the actress—who is presently starring in Khatron Ke Khiladi 14—revealed that she was previously forced to seduce a director. At the time, she described herself as’very naive’ and agreed to do the scenario. But before long, things took an awkward turn, and Shinde realized the producer was going too far. She was able to shove him aside and run from the area.

“It was during my struggling days, around 1998-99,” Shilpa said to News 18. They said to me, “Aap yeh kapde pehno aur yeh scene karo” (wear these clothes and perform this scene), but I can’t accept names. Those are not the outfits I wore. He informed me in the part that I had to seduce him since he was my employer. I performed the scenario since I was naive at the time. I was terrified when that individual made an attempt to impose himself on me. I shoved him aside and bolted. When the security personnel realized what had transpired, they demanded that I leave right away. They anticipated that I would act out and demand assistance.”

The actress said, “He was from the Hindi film industry,” without identifying the individual. He was an actor too, so I consented to perform the scene.” “I’m not lying, but I can’t take his name,” he continued. His kids would suffer too if I identified him; they’re probably a bit younger than me.”

Years later, Shilpa also spoke about another meeting she had with the same producer. He was polite to her at this encounter, failed to notice her, and even made her an offer for a movie part, which Shilpa turned down.

“Everyone experiences these sensations. Some have fled, just as I did. As performers, we’ve discussed it, and other people have told me they’ve encountered similar circumstances—even with well-known people. I firmly think that although it’s possible that you have been contacted about sexual harassment, you still have the option to refuse. You have the option to stay out of it. Everyone experiences this,” she said.

Shilpa Shinde has, meantime, made appearances in a number of TV series, such as Chidiya Ghar. Shinde has made a name for herself in the entertainment world by acting in a few Bollywood movies in addition to her television career.
