Google revealed many new capabilities for its online payment service Google Pay at the Global Fintech Fest (GFF) 2024. “Later this year” is when the firm says these features will be available. UPI Circle, UPI Vouchers, Clickpay QR Scan, Tap & Pay (for RuPay cards), Autopay for UPI Lite, and other functions are among the new additions. Here’s additional information about these features.
UPI Circle: This feature enables digital payments to be made by your reliable connections without requiring them to link their bank account. Current Google Pay users have two ways to add friends or family: partial delegation, which gives you complete control over each secondary user’s payment request, and full delegation, which lets you establish a monthly limit of up to Rs 15,000 so that secondary users may pay on their own.
eRupi: A UPI voucher, also known as an eRupi, is a prepaid voucher that is connected to the recipient’s cell phone. “Beneficiaries of these vouchers will be able to use any supporting UPI app, including Google Pay, to pay for all their supported merchant transactions without even linking their bank account on UPI,” Google said.
ClickPay QR Scan: Google said that consumers may pay their bills by scanning a (ClickPay) QR code using a QR scanner when they announced support for ClickPay QR. Custom QR codes may be created by a biller and presented for payment. “The latest bill is automatically fetched when a ClickPay QR is scanned and users can make payments in a fast and seamless manner,” Google said.
The payment app has announced the addition of prepaid utilities to its list of recurring payment categories. You will be able to connect energy accounts, verify prepaid utility suppliers and aggregators, and make payments easily. Users will be able to conveniently monitor their regular payments in a single checklist on Google Pay as additional billers are onboarded.
The ‘Tap & Pay’ payment option for RuPay cards will also be available via Google Pay. These users may begin paying by touching their phone against the card reader after adding a RuPay card to Google Pay.
UPI Lite autopay: Should the balance go below a certain amount, this function will automatically top up your UPI Lite account.
