Indian Box Office Report Card 2024: The first 6 months of the year 2024 have passed. Many big films of Bollywood and South were released. Along with this, some small budget films also hit the theatres. But they impressed people with their content. How many crores has Indian cinema earned in the first half of 2024? Know.

6 Month Box Office Record

The first half of the year 2024 is over. 6 months have passed and now everyone is waiting for the next 6 months. The reason for this is the upcoming big films, which will rock the box office. The audience is waiting for many mega budget films of South and Bollywood. At the same time, makers and actors are also adopting various strategies to make their films superhit. Especially the Bollywood industry, because the last 6 months have not been very good. Films came and there was also money, but from Bollywood's point of view, it is very less. The reason for saying this is the year 2023. The time between January to June 2023 was very good for Indian cinema, especially Bollywood.

The industry performed very poorly in the year 2022. But after that came the year 2023, which was full of happiness. Shahrukh Khan was going to set the stage for this year. 'Pathan' released in the first month of the year and became a film earning 1000 crores. At the same time, 'The Kerala Story' also got a good response. Now let's come back to the first six months of the year 2024. Where no such B blockbuster films came. Still, if we look at the overall account of Indian cinema, the last 6 months have been fine.

How was the first half of the year 2024?

Recently a report was published in Bollywood Hungama. It showed 'The Ormax India Box Office Report Card' from January to June 2024. According to this, the total gross domestic box office collection of films released in this 6-month period is Rs 5,015 crore. This is 3 percent more than the earnings of all Indian films released between January and June 2023.

In the beginning, it was expected that Prabhas, Amitabh Bachchan, Deepika Padukone and Kamal Haasan's Kalki 2898 AD will perform well in all languages. It has been the highest grossing film in all languages, earning 772 crores. After this comes the Telugu film 'Hanuman'. It did a business of 240 crores. Now comes the third position of Bollywood film 'Fighter'. Hrithik Roshan and Deepika Padukone's film could not beat Teja Sajjad's 'Hanuman' in terms of earnings. This film lagged behind by just 3 crores. It earned 237.44 crores. At the fourth position is Ajay Devgan's 'Shaitan'. It made a big splash at the box office by earning 177.96 crores. At the same time, Malayalam cinema's sleeper blockbuster 'Manjummel Boys' remained at the fifth position by earning a record 170 crores.

How was the condition of Bollywood in last 6 months?

In fact, not even a single Tamil film has managed to make it to the top 10 list. Whereas if we look at this list last year, 3 Tamil films were included. At the same time, 'Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire' is the only Hollywood film in this list. Now let's take a look at the figures for each month.

The total collection of January , the first month of the year, was Rs 935 crore. Whereas, there was a decline in the earnings of February , which came down to Rs 685 crore. Now it was the turn of the third month, March . The collection which had decreased in the second month, became Rs 1,004 crore. But in April this figure fell sharply. The collection was only Rs 459 crore. Whereas, in May the earnings increased once again, but it was a very minor jump. Rs 673 crore was earned this month. The best month of this year so far has been June . Rs 1,260 crore was printed in this month. The reason for this is not just Prabhas' 'Kalki 2898 AD'. Here the full credit also goes to the superhit film 'Munjya'.

This report revealed that Kalki 2898 AD alone contributed 15 percent to India's total box office this year. However, no big Hindi blockbuster film was released this year. In such a situation, Bollywood's share has decreased compared to last year. Which was earlier 37 percent, has now come down to 35 percent. But mid-size films dominated in the 6-month period. At the same time, the share of Telugu films - 23 percent and Malayalam cinema contributed 15 percent to the total box-office. At the same time, the surprising thing is that Malayalam cinema has earned as much in the first half of the year 2024 as it did not earn in the entire year 2023. At the same time, the share of Tamil cinema - 12 percent, Kannada films have been just 1 percent. Even the share of Punjabi cinema has been 3 percent. The entire credit for this goes to 'Jatt and Juliet 3'.
