With its convenience and ease of use, UPI has revolutionized the way people transfer money and make purchases. However, like any online transaction, there is always a risk of falling prey to fraudsters and scammers. It is important to be cautious to ensure that your UPI transactions are safe.
By following these tips you can create a safety shield,
- Use UPI PIN only for deduction-To deduct money from your account, enter your UPI PIN only when initiating a transaction. UPI PIN is never required to receive money. Always keep this in mind.
- Verify receiver name-Always verify the receiver's name while verifying the UPI ID. Avoid making payments without verification.
- Enter the UPI PIN on the specified page of the app-PaymentEnter your UPI PIN only on the dedicated UPI PIN page within the app. Keep your UPI PIN secret from everyone.
- QR code scanning for payments only-Use QR code scanning only to make payments, not to receive money. Ensure the validity of the transaction before proceeding.
- Do not download unnecessary apps-Do not download screen-sharing or SMS forwarding apps when prompted by unknown persons without understanding their purpose. Be cautious and confirm the need for such apps.
- Understand the implications of UPI PIN entry-Recognize that entering your UPI PIN leads to a deduction from your account. Authorize the transaction only when you are sure of its validity.
- Check SMS notifications-Check your SMS notifications regularly, especially when a monetary transaction is completed. Be alert to any unauthorised or unexpected deductions.
