Business Desk. Employed people usually deposit an amount every month in the Employees Provident Fund (EPF). In this, a part of the salary is deposited directly into the EPF account. The EPF account holder is allotted a number, which is called Universal Account Number i.e. UAN. This number is allotted by the Employees Provident Fund Organization (EPFO). After this, the Ministry of Labor and Employment of the Government of India certifies the UAN.

Now all the work of EPF is done online. In such a situation, all the information and services related to EPF are now available online. These online services can be availed only when the account holder's UAN is active. Through this, employees can easily complete all their EPF-related work from home in the shortest possible time.

Where is UAN used

UAN is used for withdrawing money from the employee's account and transferring money from one account to another. Apart from this, UAN is also used to check the statement of the EPF account. It is also used to take loans based on the amount deposited in EPF.

Know how to find out the UAN number

If the UAN number is not known or it is deactivated, then the account holders may face a problem. In such a situation, let us know how to activate it along with knowing it.

 You can get a UAN number by directly contacting the employer. Also, its details are there in your salary slip.

You can also get it by visiting the UAN portal. For this, you can follow these steps.

• First of all, go to the UAN portal.
• Then click on Know Your UAN Status.
• After this fill in your state, EPFO ​​office, name, date of birth and captcha.
• Then click on Get Authorization Pin.
• You will receive this PIN on your registered mobile number. This has to be entered in the portal.
• Finally, you will get the UAN number on the registered mobile number.

How to activate the UAN number

• First of all, go to the EPFO ​​portal.
• On its home page, click on For Employees under the Our Services tab.
• Then you click on Member UAN in the Services section.
• After this click on Activate UAN.
• Then a form will open on the next page, in which you have to fill in the name, date of birth, email and captcha along with the UAN number.
• Then click on Get Authorization Pin.
• You will receive this PIN on your registered mobile number. This has to be entered in the portal.
• Then you have to fill in the details in the next box.
• There, tick the disclaimer box. Then click on Validate OTP and Activate UAN.
• Then you will get UAN and password on the registered mobile number.
