The Congress government brought the Rs.500k gas cylinder scheme very ambitiously. The Congress government announced during the election campaign that the ration card holders will be given benefits under this scheme. Currently, this scheme is in operation. But a recent key update on this scheme has come to light.
Many reports state that the Rs.500k gas cylinder scheme which was implemented as part of the election promise is continuing as if it were Nam Ke Vaste. It means that even though there are many eligible people, this scheme applies only to some.

Reports state that there are around 90 lakh households with white ration cards in the state. However, the government has so far identified only 39.33 lakh families as eligible.
But as of April 13, only 18.86 lakh people received Rs. 500 gas cylinders, reports said. That means we can understand that even those who are eligible are not getting the full extent of this scheme.
Normally Rs.500 gas scheme should be applied to every family having a white ration card. That means 90 lakh families should be identified as eligible. Everyone should get Rs.500 cylinder. However, the government has identified only 39.33 lakh people as eligible.
That means more than half of the actual eligible have been cut, reports state. At the same time, only half of those found eligible are getting this scheme. With this, the beneficiaries are demanding the government to apply the scheme to them.
Reports reveal that those who do not get the Rs.500 cylinder even if they are eligible, they are told to apply again if they contact the authorities and throw up their hands. But it seems that there is no point in applying again.
However, the government says that only a few people are getting subsidy gas in the first phase and that they will apply the scheme to all those who are eligible. However, reports suggest that the scheme is being applied only to a few to reduce the financial burden.
