The Employees' Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) has given relief to employees who have opted for higher pensions for employers. EPFO has extended the deadline for employers to upload salary details in its database till May 31.

The ministry gave this information-
Giving this information in a statement, the Labor Ministry said that the Chairman of the Center Board of Trustees of EPFO has decided to extend the deadline for employers to upload the relevant details. Earlier, employers were given time till December 31, 2023, to upload the salary details of employees who opted for higher pensions on higher contributions.
Effect after High Court order?
Employees' Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) provided an online facility to all its subscribers to submit applications for opting for a higher pension at a higher contribution/combined option.
Under the High Court order dated November 4, 2022, EPFO had offered higher pension options to eligible pensioners/EPFO members.

17.49 lakh applications received-
The online application facility was started on February 26, 2023, and was extended twice till July 11.
During this period, 17.49 lakh applications were received from pensioners and existing employees to opt for more pensions. After this, employers were given time till September 30 to upload the salary details of their interested employees.
