Barcelona midfielder Gavi has responded to Spain’s disappointing World Cup opener against Cape Verde by urging the team to stay united and continue believing.
La Roja were held to a goalless draw by the underdogs and delivered a disappointing performance.
Gavi took to social media to share his thoughts and is already focused on the team’s next match against Saudi Arabia.
“Nobody said this was going to be easy, this is a World Cup,”
he posted on Instagram.
“The important thing is to be united in the face of adversity, keep believing in this team because we’re going to leave everything until the end. Now to work to win the next game, there is nothing else #VamosEspaña.”
Gavi was somewhat of a surprise starter against Cape Verde, but Luis de la Fuente may make changes to his lineup for the next match.
Nico Williams and Lamine Yamal both came off the bench against Cape Verde, but it remains unclear whether either player is ready to start after injury.
