Urgent Evacuation Orders Issued as Wildfire Nears Spokane

Immediate Evacuation for Spokane Residents

Residents living close to Beacon Hill in Spokane are being strongly advised to evacuate their homes without delay as firefighters tackle a rapidly spreading wildfire in the vicinity. Officials from the Washington Department of Natural Resources (DNR) and Spokane County Fire District 9 have issued Level 3 (Go Now!) evacuation orders for areas impacted by the Upriver Fire, which is currently raging near East Upriver Drive.


As reported, the fire has already scorched around 10 acres. The designated evacuation zone encompasses the area bordered by Columbia Drive to the north, Upriver Drive to the south, Northwood to the east, and Thierman Road to the west. Residents within these limits are being instructed to evacuate immediately.


To assist residents in determining if they are in the evacuation zone, emergency officials have provided an interactive evacuation map on the Spokane County Emergency Management website. DNR has confirmed that numerous firefighting resources, including aircraft and ground crews, have been dispatched to combat the blaze.


The fire is reportedly located in the mountain biking trail region near Beacon Hill. Authorities are advising the public to avoid the area to facilitate safe firefighting efforts. Currently, there is no further information available regarding injuries, potential threats to structures, or the fire's origin.
