The upcoming OnePlus 16 is expected to arrive with a significant display upgrade, featuring a custom BOE-made panel with an ultra-fast 185Hz refresh rate and ultra-slim sub-1mm bezels on all four sides of the screen.
Display specifications and technology
According to leaks from tipster Digital Chat Station, the OnePlus 16 will feature a 6.78-inch LTPO BOE flat display with 1.5K resolution. The panel utilizes Low-Injection Pressure Overmolding (LIPO) packaging technology, which shrinks internal display borders to achieve bezels measuring just around 1mm on all edges. The display is expected to support BT.2020 color gamut standards and include a custom touch control IC for enhanced responsiveness.
Refresh rate range
The display will have a minimum refresh rate of 185Hzwhich is already a meaningful step up from the 165Hz ceiling on the OnePlus 15. OnePlus is reportedly evaluating a maximum refresh rate of 240Hzthough the final specification may land between 200Hz and 240Hz depending on how the silicon and battery interact under sustained load. The 185Hz is expected to be the standard refresh rate across the Android user interface, while some games could support the higher 240Hz.
Other rumored specifications
Beyond the display, the OnePlus 16 is tipped to feature:
-
Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro chipset (SM8975) with clock speeds up to 5GHz
-
9,000mAh silicon-carbon battery (nearly double the flagship standard)
-
200MP periscope telephoto camera paired with 50MP main and 50MP ultra-wide sensors
-
OxygenOS 17 based on Android 17
Launch timeline and availability
The OnePlus 16 is expected to launch in China in October 2026though European availability remains uncertain. The device is reportedly facing a 25% price hike compared to the previous generation due to the significant upgrades in display, battery, and camera technology.
