Pesawaran – The Chairman of the Regional Leadership of Muhammadiyah (PDM) in Pesawaran Regency, M. Nurdin, admitted that he does not closely follow the latest developments in world football.
However, the player he is most familiar with remains the Portuguese superstar Cristiano Ronaldo, also known as CR7.
Despite not being an avid follower of current football trends, M. Nurdin expressed great hope for the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup.
He conveyed his wish that Asian nations would advance further in the tournament and showcase the growth of football across the continent.
“I don’t really keep up with the latest football updates. The only player I truly know is Cristiano Ronaldo or CR7,” said Nurdin in an interview with Tribun Lampung on Tuesday, June 15, 2026.
According to him, the achievements of Asian countries at the World Cup would be a source of pride for people across the region.
Therefore, he hopes that Asian teams can deliver surprises and achieve better results compared to previous editions of the tournament.
“I hope Asian nations can go further in the 2026 World Cup. Hopefully, there will be a team from Asia capable of springing a surprise and proving that Asian football is making great progress,” he remarked.
He also expressed his hopes that the 2026 World Cup would be a successful event that strengthens unity and friendship among nations through the spirit of football.
