The national teams of Uruguay and Saudi Arabia shared the spoils in their Group H clash at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, finishing with a 1-1 draw.

The match between Uruguay and Saudi Arabia was broadcast live and free on TVRI, starting at 06:00 WITA (05:00 WIB).

At the TVRI South Kalimantan office on Jalan A. Yani Km6, Banjarmasin, large crowds of football enthusiasts gathered from Monday night until early morning on Tuesday (16/6/2026) to watch their favourite teams in action.

Fans came dressed and spirited according to their chosen teams, creating a lively atmosphere.

Similarly, the Banjarbaru Police Headquarters hosted daily public screenings in their main hall.

Not only police personnel but also residents joined to watch the matches at the station located on Jalan Jenderal Ahmad Yani Km. 35.5, Loktabat Selatan, South Banjarbaru District, Banjarbaru City.

However, the Uruguay vs Saudi Arabia match drew a smaller crowd since it was played early in the morning.

In contrast, the Spain vs Cape Verde game attracted a larger audience, especially as organisers set up coffee and snack stalls for spectators.

The Uruguay vs Saudi Arabia encounter concluded with a 1-1 draw. Saudi Arabia’s Abdulelah Al-Amri opened the scoring in the 41st minute, while Uruguay’s M. Araujo equalised in the 80th minute.

Thanks to this result, Uruguay avoided a fate similar to Argentina’s in the 2022 World Cup, when Argentina suffered a 1-2 defeat to Saudi Arabia in their opening group match.

Uruguay started the game strongly, with Maximiliano Araujo unleashing a powerful shot within the opening five minutes, forcing a save from Saudi goalkeeper Mohammed Al Owais.

After that early threat, Uruguay maintained control of possession but struggled to create clear scoring opportunities.

Saudi Arabia, meanwhile, found it difficult to build attacks during the first half hour, facing tight defensive organisation from Uruguay.

In the final ten minutes of the first half, Saudi Arabia began to show more intent. Abdulelah Al-Amri had a golden opportunity inside the penalty area and fired a precise shot, but Fernando Muslera made a brilliant save to deny him.

That moment proved to be a turning point, as Saudi Arabia gained confidence and began to threaten Uruguay through set-piece situations.

In the 41st minute, Saudi Arabia broke the deadlock through Al-Amri. The goal came from a corner kick, with Mohammed Kano heading the initial ball that was parried by Muslera. The rebound fell perfectly for Al-Amri, who slotted it home from close range.

Saudi Arabia went into half-time with a 1-0 lead.

In the second half, Uruguay intensified their attacks, dominating possession and creating multiple scoring chances, including a powerful shot that struck the post.

Finally, in the 80th minute, M. Araujo levelled the score with a well-placed finish past Al Owais.

The match ended 1-1 after full time.
