Commercial flight operations have finally commenced at Uttar Pradesh's highly anticipated Noida International Airport (Jewar). While it is viewed as a major alternative for travelers in the Delhi-NCR region, the prospects do not currently appear very attractive for those traveling to Thailand when considering the fares and travel time of the initial international flights; the journey to Bangkok, Thailand's capital, takes approximately 19 hours and costs around ₹22,000.
According to information available on the online travel portal MakeMyTrip, the cheapest flight from Noida (Jewar) to Bangkok on June 16 is priced at approximately ₹21,633. The journey takes about 18 hours and 55 minutes because the flight is not direct and includes a stopover in Hyderabad.

Reach Thailand from Delhi in just 4 hours.
In contrast, a look at flights to Bangkok from Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI) on the same day reveals that an Air India non-stop flight reaches Bangkok in just 4 hours and 20 minutes. The fare for this flight is around ₹21,722. This means there is a difference of only about ₹100 in the fare, yet a significant difference of approximately 14 hours and 35 minutes in travel time.
Delhi to Thailand
Why does it take longer?
Overall, while the fare from Jewar might be slightly lower, the journey takes considerably longer. One reason for the current situation is the lack of direct flights to Bangkok from Jewar; the number of flights and airlines remains limited during the initial phase of a new airport's operations. As more domestic and international airlines expand their networks, the likelihood of direct international routes starting from Jewar will increase. This will reduce travel time and could also lead to competitive pricing.
