The Group C fixture of the 2026 FIFA World Cup will feature Haiti taking on Scotland on Sunday morning.

According to the official schedule, the Haiti vs Scotland match will kick off at 08:00 WIB on Sunday, June 14, 2026.

The two sides face a tough road ahead in Group C, which also includes football powerhouses Brazil and Morocco.

Scotland have qualified for the North American World Cup for the first time since 1998, ending a 28-year absence from the tournament.

The Scottish team are determined to give their fans something to celebrate, but with Brazil and African champions Morocco as their next opponents, securing three points against Haiti could be crucial to their hopes of advancing beyond the group stage.

The Tartan Army enter this game with confidence-boosting wins from their recent warm-up matches, a 4-1 victory over Curaçao on May 30 followed by a 4-0 win over Bolivia on Saturday, June 6.

Che Adams netted twice, while Lawrence Shankland and Napoli midfielder Scott McTominay were also on target in the dominant win over Bolivia.

Scotland’s attacking display will have pleased manager Steve Clarke, while the victory against Curaçao provided valuable experience against a Caribbean opponent.

Meanwhile, Haiti advanced through three rounds of CONCACAF qualification to earn their World Cup berth, with coach Sebastien Migne guiding them to the top of Group C in the final round ahead of higher-ranked teams such as Honduras and Costa Rica.

This marks Haiti’s second-ever World Cup appearance, their first since debuting 52 years ago in 1974.

Les Grenadiers enter this encounter with limited experience against European sides, though they managed a 1-1 draw with Iceland in March 2026 before a 3-0 loss to Azerbaijan in 2025.

In their two pre-World Cup friendlies, Haiti recorded an impressive 4-0 victory over New Zealand on June 3 before losing 2-1 to Peru three days later.

Ruben Providence, Lenny Joseph, Frantzdy Pierrot, and Duke Lacroix were the scorers in the win against New Zealand, who will also compete at the World Cup.

Haiti vs Scotland Players

Scotland possess greater experience at this level, with several players having competed in European Championships and qualifiers, whereas Haiti have often struggled against top-tier CONCACAF opposition.

The Tartan Army will rely on the leadership of captain Andy Robertson and the composure of Scott McTominay, combining defensive organisation with tactical discipline in attack.

Les Grenadiers are expected to adopt a compact defensive structure while looking for opportunities to strike on the counterattack.

Scotland are tipped to claim victory in their opening match against Haiti.

Predicted Lineups

Both sides are expected to field their strongest starting elevens using the traditional 4-4-2 formation to maintain balance across the pitch. Below are the predicted lineups for Haiti vs Scotland:

Haiti (4-4-2): Johny Placide; Duke Lacroix, Hannes Delcroix, Ricardo Ade, Carles Arcus; Ruben Providence, Danley Jacques, Jean-Ricner Bellegarde, Louicius Deedson; Duckens Nazon, Wilson Isidor. Coach: Sebastien Migne.

Scotland (4-4-2): Angus Gunn; Andy Robertson, Grant Hanley, John Souttar, Aaron Hickey; John McGinn, Ryan Christie, Scott McTominay, Ben Gannon-Doak; Lawrence Shankland, Che Adams. Coach: Steve Clarke.

Head-to-Head

Haiti and Scotland have never faced each other before, making this their first-ever meeting on the world’s biggest football stage — a moment to cherish for both sets of players and supporters.

Although Scotland have not reached the World Cup since 1998, this will be their ninth appearance in the tournament’s history.

Haiti lost all three of their group stage matches in the 1974 World Cup, and this edition provides them with another chance to secure their first-ever points at the global event.

Score Prediction

Based on current form and experience, Scotland are favoured to secure a full three points in this opening clash. The midfield pairing of John McGinn and Scott McTominay, along with Andy Robertson’s leadership at the back, will be key to the Tartan Army’s tactical stability.

However, Haiti should not be underestimated. Their strong motivation to make history and make their nation proud could inspire a fearless performance.

Their striking duo, Duckens Nazon and Frantzdy Pierrot, have the ability to trouble Scotland’s defence with a direct attacking approach.

Scotland are expected to dominate possession, while Haiti will look to exploit quick transitions.

The predicted scoreline for Haiti vs Scotland in the 2026 World Cup is 1-2 in favour of Scotland.

Coach Bachtiar Hamid Comments on PSSI Development

The 2026 World Cup has also drawn attention from Babel Jaya coach Bachtiar Hamid, who commented on the development efforts of the Football Association of Indonesia (PSSI).

His remarks came after South Korean midfielder Hwang Hee-chan led his team to a 2-1 victory over the Czech Republic in a World Cup match.

In the game held at Estadio Guadalajara, the Taeguk Warriors pulled off a comeback after falling behind to Ladislav Krejci’s 59th-minute goal.

Trailing 0-1, South Korea’s coach Myung Bo introduced Wolverhampton Wanderers forward Hwang Hee-chan in the 62nd minute.

Hwang made an instant impact, contributing to Hwang In-beom’s equaliser in the 67th minute and scoring the winning goal in the 80th minute through Oh Hyeon-gyu’s assist.

For Bachtiar Hamid, Hwang’s name brings back memories of Indonesia’s U-19 team defeating him during the 2013 AFC U-19 Qualifiers, where Evan Dimas and his teammates triumphed 3-2.

Hamid reflected on that golden generation led by Evan Dimas, lamenting that many of those players have since faded despite their 2019 AFF Cup success.

“Indonesia has exceptional potential at the youth level, especially under-20. They can compete with Asian teams like Korea, Japan, and Australia. But at the senior level, we still lag behind,” Bachtiar Hamid said on Friday, June 12, 2026.

The Babel Jaya coach, whose team also competes in the 2026 National Series, called on the PSSI to focus on sustainable development programmes.

“PSSI’s main task is to ensure continuous development for young players and support local clubs and football schools (SSB),” he explained.

He also emphasised the importance of better facilities and infrastructure across regions.

“With proper infrastructure, the national football goals can advance further. The achievements of Asian players in Europe prove that Asian football can compete with European and South American nations,” he added.
