There is a major update for the lakhs of candidates who appeared for the Uttar Pradesh Polytechnic Entrance Exam (JEECUP) 2026. The exam results are likely to be declared on June 20. Notably, this time, even students who secured very low marks will get an opportunity to participate in the counseling process. This ensures that the academic year is not wasted for students who could not perform well in the exam. Meanwhile, stiff competition is being observed for admissions into pharmacy and engineering diploma courses. Students are now awaiting the results and the counseling schedule.
**Opportunity for students with low marks**
Under this year's arrangement, candidates who secured very low marks in the exam will also be able to participate in the counseling process. Even if a student scores just four marks out of the total 400, they can still participate in the admission process. However, such candidates will not secure admission in government or government-aided institutions; instead, they will be offered admission opportunities in private polytechnic colleges.
**Over three lakh students appeared for the exam**
A total of over 4.25 lakh candidates had applied for the entrance exam this year. Of these, approximately 3.34 lakh students appeared for the test. Admissions will be granted for around 2.71 lakh seats across various polytechnic institutions in the state for engineering diploma, pharmacy, and other courses.
**Increased competition in Pharmacy and Engineering**
There is intense competition for admission to pharmacy diploma courses this year as well. Similarly, a large number of students have taken the exam for courses related to engineering and technology. Council officials state that competition has intensified compared to the past due to the rising demand for technical skills.
**Counseling to begin soon**
According to Council Secretary S.K. Singh, the counseling process is likely to commence in the last week of June or the first week of July, following the declaration of results. Students are advised to keep all necessary documents ready in advance to avoid any difficulties during the admission process.
