If you are also using an old iPhone, then there is important news for you, recently Meta has confirmed that WhatsApp will soon stop support for the old iOS version. This means that users who do not update their devices will not be able to use the app after November 30.
WhatsApp’s new requirement for iPhone users
Currently, WhatsApp works on iPhones running iOS 15.1 or later. But, starting November 30, the app will require at least iOS 15.5 to function. Users who continue to use the old iOS version without updating will not be able to use WhatsApp.
Which iPhone models will be affected?
iPhone 6s
iPhone 6s Plus
iPhone SE (1st generation)
iPhone 7
iPhone 7 Plus
The good thing is that these devices can still be updated to iOS 15.8.8. After the update, WhatsApp will continue to work without any issues.
How to update your iPhone
Open Settings.
Tap on General.
Select Software Update.
If an update is available, tap Download and Install.
Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the process.
Apple also sends notifications whenever a new software update is available.
No need to replace your iPhone
Despite concerns from users, WhatsApp support is not ending for any of these iPhone models. Meta periodically discontinues support for older operating systems to introduce new features and strengthen protection against cyber threats.
