Ways to avoid rising prices of petrol and diesel
The prices of petrol and diesel are continuously increasing in the country. In such a situation, everyone is looking for ways to increase the mileage of their car or bike. But do you know that Google Maps present in your smartphone can help in reducing the expenses on your pocket?
Special feature of Google Maps
There is a hidden feature in Google Maps called Fuel-Efficient Routes. When you ask for directions to a location, Maps shows you the shortest or fastest route. But it is not necessary that the shortest route also saves fuel. This feature selects the most suitable route keeping in mind the fuel consumption of your vehicle.
How does it save money and fuel?
If the route is short but there is heavy traffic or bad roads, you need to apply brakes frequently, which causes the car to consume more fuel. By activating the fuel-efficient feature, Google Maps will show you routes where there is less traffic, smoother driving, and less strain on the engine.
understand with example
Suppose you have to go to office. The first route is short but there is heavy traffic. The other path is longer but empty. Google Maps will show you another route, so that your car will run without stopping and petrol consumption will be reduced.
How to activate this feature?
To turn on this feature, go to Google Maps. Then click on your profile photo. Go to Settings and tap Navigation settings. Here you will find the option Prefer Fuel-Efficient Routes, activate it.
Selection of engine type
Another specialty of this feature is that it works according to different vehicles. In settings you will get the option to choose engine type. You can choose petrol, diesel, hybrid or EV as per your vehicle. After this, Google Maps will determine the most fuel-saving route according to your vehicle’s engine.
