The United States will launch their World Cup 2026 campaign with a Group D encounter against Paraguay, with the BBC revealing the full list of commentators, pundits and presenters for the match.

The fixture between the co-hosts USA and Paraguay is scheduled to kick off at 2 AM BST, and will be broadcast live on BBC One and BBC Red Button. The coverage will be fronted by one of the BBC’s most respected sports anchors, Mark Chapman.

Chapman, a well-known figure in British sports broadcasting, will lead the coverage for tonight’s contest. He will be joined on the panel by former Wales captain Ashley Williams and ex-England skipper Steph Houghton, both serving as pundits.

Williams, who represented Wales 86 times and scored twice for his country, captained his national side over a long and successful international career. Although he never played in a World Cup, he became a key defensive figure for both club and country, including his time at Everton.

Houghton, meanwhile, earned 121 caps for England and also wore the captain’s armband for her nation. A central figure in English women’s football, she brings extensive leadership and tournament experience to the analysis team.

Commentary for the USA vs Paraguay match on BBC Red Button will be handled by Jonathan Pearce and Sue Smith. Pearce also covered the Canada vs Bosnia and Herzegovina encounter earlier today. On BBC One and BBC HD, the commentary team will feature Steve Bower, one of the regular voices from Match of the Day, alongside former England international Danny Murphy.

The USA and Paraguay last met in a friendly match in November 2025, which ended 2-1 in favour of the Americans. Goals came through Folarin Balogun and Giovanni Reyna for Mauricio Pochettino’s side, while Alex Arce found the net for Paraguay. Their renewed World Cup meeting promises another competitive contest as both teams look to gain an early advantage in Group D.
