New Delhi, June 12: An IndiGo flight with approximately 180 passengers traveling from Lucknow to Delhi was grounded on Friday following the discovery of a bomb threat written on a tissue inside one of the lavatories, prompting a thorough security response at the airport.
The flight, which was set to leave Lucknow at 10:45 a.m., was in the process of take-off preparations when crew members were informed of a potential security issue on board.
As a result, the aircraft was stopped on the apron and prevented from taking off while security agencies activated standard emergency protocols.
The alarm was raised after a tissue paper inscribed with the word "bomb" was found in one of the toilets.
In response, airport security and other agencies conducted a detailed inspection of the aircraft and its vicinity.
Authorities later confirmed that the threat was unfounded, as no explosives or suspicious items were located during the security checks.
An IndiGo representative stated that a security concern was identified shortly before the flight's departure on flight 6E 2111 from Lucknow to Delhi.
“A security threat was detected shortly before take-off on IndiGo flight 6E 2111 scheduled for June 12. We promptly notified the appropriate authorities and are fully cooperating with them for the necessary security evaluations,” the spokesperson remarked.
“The aircraft will continue its journey to Delhi once the necessary clearances are obtained. We apologize for the inconvenience caused to our passengers and are taking steps to minimize it, including providing refreshments and timely updates,” they added.
The airline also expressed regret for the disruption experienced by passengers, emphasizing their commitment to ensuring safety and security for all customers, crew, and aircraft.
