A major accident was narrowly avoided in Shahdol district late Tuesday evening. A coal loaded truck parked near the college on Burhar-Dhanpuri road suddenly caught fire. According to initial information, smoke was first seen coming out from the cabin of the truck. Within a few minutes the fire took a huge form and high flames started rising from the truck. Due to the presence of petrol pump near the incident site, an atmosphere of fear was created among the local people and people started running towards safe places.
According to eyewitnesses, the fire was spreading rapidly and people present nearby feared that if the fire reached the petrol pump, the situation could become very serious. However, the relief team became active in time and the situation was brought under control.
Shahdol truck fire incident creates chaos
As soon as information about the incident was received, the team of Budhar police and fire brigade reached the spot. The fire was so intense that traffic on the road was affected for some time. Keeping security in mind, the police advised people to stay away from the incident site. The fire brigade staff brought the fire under control after a lot of effort.
Local people say that during the fire, many drivers had stopped their vehicles and stood away. Panic was also seen among the shopkeepers and passers-by present nearby. It is a matter of relief that there is no information of anyone being injured or loss of life in this incident. The truck driver also got out of the vehicle in time, which saved his life.
Experts believe that hot weather, prolonged operation of the vehicle and technical faults can sometimes become the cause of such accidents. For this reason, regular inspection and maintenance of heavy vehicles is considered very important.
Investigation into the cause of truck fire begins
At present the real reason for the fire has not been revealed. Police and technical team are investigating the matter. At the initial stage, short circuit, wiring fault or technical problem to the engine is being considered as the possible cause. Only after the investigation report comes, it will be clear under what circumstances the fire broke out.
This incident has once again raised questions on the safety of heavy vehicles parked on the highway. Experts advise to be especially cautious about monitoring trucks parked near petrol pumps, gas stations and crowded areas. If the fire had continued to spread for some more time, the damage could have been much greater.
The administration has said that all aspects to the incident are being investigated. Necessary security measures will also be reviewed to prevent such incidents in future. At present the situation is completely under control, but this accident has once again forced the people of the area to think about security.
