Movement on a key road in Jaipur’s Jagatpura area remained restricted on Tuesday as the Jaipur Development Authority (JDA) continued clearing debris left behind after the demolition of five religious structures during a road-widening drive.
Officials said the restrictions were imposed to facilitate debris removal operations and ensure public safety while heavy machinery remained deployed at the site.
Traffic diversions and security arrangements were put in place as authorities worked to restore normal movement in the area.
Demolition carried out during road-widening drive
The demolition operation was conducted on Monday as part of an ongoing infrastructure and road expansion project undertaken by the JDA.
According to officials, the structures were removed to make way for the widening of a major road corridor aimed at improving traffic flow and connectivity in the rapidly developing locality.
The action was carried out under administrative supervision, with civic authorities overseeing the operation.
Debris removal work continues
On Tuesday, civic teams remained engaged in clearing rubble and other materials from the demolition site.
Authorities said the clearance process was necessary before construction and road expansion activities could proceed further.
Heavy equipment and personnel were deployed throughout the day to expedite the work and minimize disruption to local residents and commuters.
Security arrangements strengthened
Additional police personnel were deployed in and around the affected stretch to maintain law and order and regulate traffic movement.
Officials monitored the situation closely as residents and commuters navigated the restricted zone.
Authorities urged the public to follow traffic advisories and cooperate with officials until the clearance operation is completed.
Infrastructure project remains focus
The road-widening initiative is part of broader urban development efforts aimed at addressing traffic congestion and improving transportation infrastructure in Jaipur.
Jagatpura has witnessed significant residential and commercial growth in recent years, increasing pressure on existing road networks and prompting expansion projects in several areas.
Officials said development works would continue in accordance with approved plans.
What happens next?
The Jaipur Development Authority is expected to complete debris removal and gradually restore normal traffic movement once the area is declared safe.
Authorities will continue monitoring the site while road-widening activities move forward under the ongoing infrastructure development programme.
