Manchester United are reportedly exploring potential moves for Wolverhampton Wanderers duo Sam Johnstone and Mateus Mane, while Aston Villa are evaluating their goalkeeper options ahead of the upcoming summer transfer window.
As per a report from ExpressAndStar.com, United are believed to be leading the chase for 18-year-old Mateus Mane should he decide to depart Molineux this summer. The report also mentions speculation surrounding a possible reunion between United and goalkeeper Sam Johnstone. However, Wolves manager Rob Edwards has confirmed that Mane is expected to remain with the club for their Championship campaign, and the young player himself has expressed a similar commitment.
Meanwhile, Borussia Dortmund are said to have submitted a bid worth £14.7 million, including add-ons, for former Wolves defender Bastien Meupiyou, who currently plays for Portuguese outfit Alverca. Although Wolves possess a low-cost buy-back clause for Meupiyou, they are not expected to exercise it.
Under the terms of a sell-on clause, Wolves stand to recover the £4.2 million they originally spent on the centre-back, in addition to claiming 50 percent of any profit generated from his transfer.
Elsewhere, Aston Villa are reportedly holding contract discussions with midfielder Lamare Bogarde following his impressive progress under manager Unai Emery. The 22-year-old has drawn attention from several clubs, including Brighton & Hove Albion, and remains under contract with Villa until 2028.
With goalkeeper Emi Martinez being linked with a possible departure, Villa are said to be showing interest in Paris Saint-Germain’s Lucas Chevalier. Both Villa and Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly considering making a move for the French goalkeeper during the summer window.
