Real Madrid forward Kylian Mbappe has reportedly reached a breaking point with the club’s medical department. According to L’Equipe, the French star personally contacted club president Florentino Perez to inform him that he no longer wants to be treated by Real Madrid’s medical staff.

Mbappe reportedly made a direct call to Perez to convey his complete loss of confidence in the club’s internal medical team. The France captain, who has been struggling with a knee injury since December, is said to be dissatisfied with the rehabilitation approach at the club’s Valdebebas training centre. The 27-year-old has allegedly told the Real Madrid hierarchy that he wants to be treated exclusively by Christophe Baudot — the medical professional he worked with during his time at Paris Saint-Germain — who is believed to have played a key role in his recent recovery.

The relationship between Mbappe and the club’s medical department began deteriorating following reports that the team initially treated the wrong leg during his recovery. Although Mbappe has publicly played down the “wrong knee” incident, tensions have reportedly persisted behind the scenes. Sources suggest that the situation has now become irreparable, with Mbappe feeling that his long-term fitness has been compromised by what he views as an overly rushed recovery process. He reportedly believes that the level of precision and care required for an elite athlete was not being met.

This is not the first time Real Madrid’s medical team has faced criticism. Reports also surfaced that Eduardo Camavinga’s injury was mishandled in December 2025. The midfielder was ruled out of several matches after suffering an ankle injury, which was allegedly misdiagnosed due to an X-ray being performed on the wrong foot.

Camavinga sustained a left ankle injury on December 3 during a 3-0 away win over Athletic Club. Despite scoring in that match, he had to be substituted after 69 minutes due to discomfort. The club’s medical team then performed an MRI scan — but on his right foot — and, finding no issue, declared him fit to play. The 23-year-old was named in the squad for the December 7 match against Celta but did not feature. He subsequently missed games against Alaves in LaLiga, Manchester City in the Champions League, and Talavera in the Copa del Rey before finally returning to action on December 20 as a late substitute against Sevilla.

L’Equipe further reports that trust between the Real Madrid players and the club’s medical staff has been eroding for several years, with multiple players privately expressing dissatisfaction over medical decisions.

Despite the ongoing controversy, Mbappe has joined the France national team for upcoming friendlies against Brazil and Colombia. Once international duty concludes, he is expected to return to Madrid to prepare for Real Madrid’s next LaLiga fixture against Mallorca. Los Blancos currently sit four points behind leaders Barcelona in the race for the league title.
