You are likely familiar with the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO). Its mandate involves designing and developing state-of-the-art weapons, missiles, radar, and electronic systems. If you are among them, there is good news for you: DRDO has announced direct recruitment for a total of 33 scientist positions and is inviting applications. Eligible and interested candidates can apply online via the DRDO Recruitment and Assessment Centre (RAC) portal at rac.gov.in. The deadline for submitting applications is 4:00 PM on June 19, 2026.

Of the 33 total positions, 20 are reserved for Scientist C, 11 for Scientist D, and two for Scientist E. Candidates applying for the Scientist C position must possess at least three years of relevant experience and an engineering degree in the relevant discipline. Additionally, they must not be older than 35 years. Candidates selected for this position will receive a basic monthly salary of ₹67,700, in accordance with the 7th Central Pay Commission (CPC).

What are the eligibility criteria?
For the DRDO Scientist D position, applicants require at least 7 years of experience and an engineering degree in the relevant discipline. The maximum age limit for this role is 45 years. Candidates selected for this position will receive a basic monthly salary of ₹78,800. Furthermore, candidates applying for the Scientist E position must have at least 11 years of experience and an engineering degree in the relevant discipline. The age limit for this position is 45 years, and selected candidates will receive a basic monthly salary of ₹1,23,100.

What is the application fee? Male candidates belonging to the General, OBC, and EWS categories applying for these posts are required to pay a fee of ₹100, whereas SC, ST, PwD, and female candidates are exempted from paying the application fee.

What is the selection process?
Administrative Scrutiny: Verification of all mandatory documents.
Technical Screening Level I: Bio-data-based technical screening (Level-1) considering experience and higher qualifications.
Technical Screening Level II: A preliminary online interview lasting 10–15 minutes.
