The newly launched South Africa football kit takes cues from their iconic 2010 World Cup jersey, a design that remains a cherished symbol in the nation’s sporting history.
Adidas has officially unveiled the latest South Africa kit ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will be hosted across the USA, Canada, and Mexico. The design serves as a nostalgic tribute to the memorable 2010 tournament, when the country proudly hosted the world for the first time.
Back in 2010, Bafana Bafana captured global attention with their energetic celebrations, vuvuzela sounds, and infectious spirit. This new kit aims to evoke that same sense of pride and passion, reminding fans of a World Cup that stood apart from all others.
With qualification already confirmed, South Africa are set to bring their trademark energy to the 2026 tournament — and they’ll be doing so in a kit that radiates colour and confidence.
Adidas described the new design by saying, “Drawing inspiration from the unforgettable 2010 jersey — a symbol of national pride during a defining moment for South African football — the new look celebrates that heritage while embracing a bold new era.”
The brand added, “The 2026/2027 home jersey retains the classic yellow base with green detailing, colours that have long represented South African unity and pride. Enhanced features and advanced tailoring give the shirt a contemporary edge, ensuring top-level performance for the demands of modern football.”
Adidas South Africa 2026 World Cup Home Kit
The South African Football Association (SAFA) will unveil the away jersey on 19 March 2026, in line with other Adidas federation launches. Fans will be able to purchase the 2026/2027 home kit from 20 March 2026 at Adidas outlets and partner retailers.
For the 2026 World Cup, South Africa have been placed in Group A. They will open their campaign against Mexico at the iconic Azteca Stadium on 11 June.
The group also includes South Korea and a European qualifier yet to be confirmed, giving South Africa a competitive pool where they’ll look to make a strong impression.
Visually, the new kit nods to the 2010 design, combining bold green striping with the traditional yellow base to create a look that’s instantly recognisable to fans.
Adding cultural depth, the design also honours South Africa’s 12 official languages, symbolising the nation’s diversity, unity, and enduring love for football.
In the opinion of FourFourTwo, the design gives off “Norwich City vibes” from the Premier League — and they mean that as a compliment.
South Africa’s football identity has long been tied to the yellow-and-green combination, and this new home kit proudly continues that tradition, reminiscent of their famous hosting of the 2010 World Cup when Bafana Bafana captured hearts worldwide.
As another summer of football approaches, fans can expect the same lively energy, rhythmic celebrations, and unmistakable flair that define South African football. The only question left — will you be getting your hands on one?
