MS Dhoni Future in CSK: The relationship between Chennai Super Kings and Mahendra Singh Dhoni is counted among the most successful partnerships in IPL history. However, after the end of IPL 2026, discussions regarding Dhoni’s future have once again intensified. Chennai Super Kings CEO Kasi Vishwanathan has made it clear that only he will take the final decision regarding Dhoni’s role in the franchise. He said that the team always wants Dhoni to remain associated with Chennai in some form or the other.
Player, coach or mentor, CSK is accepted in every form.
During a conversation after the end of the season, Kasi Vishwanathan said that till now there has been no formal discussion with Dhoni regarding his future. He told that Dhoni always takes his own decisions and the franchise respects everything he says. Vishwanathan said that whether as a player, coach or in the role of a mentor, Chennai Super Kings would always like to see Dhoni with them. According to him, Dhoni is not just a player but an important part of the team’s identity and culture.
Chennai’s performance was disappointing in IPL 2026
The IPL 2026 season proved to be very bad for Chennai Super Kings. The team was out of the playoff race long before. The team could not perform consistently well in both the batting and bowling departments. Meanwhile, Dhoni’s absence also affected the team. Throughout the season, fans waited for him to take the field, but he could not play a single match.
Ruturaj Gaikwad’s captaincy praised
Kasi Vishwanathan also praised the current team captain Ruturaj Gaikwad. He said that Dhoni and head coach Stephen Fleming together have groomed Ruturaj into a calm and mature captain. According to Vishwanathan, Rituraj has watched Dhoni closely for many years and in the coming times, he will take the team forward in a better way.
According to reports, 44-year-old MS Dhoni was suffering from calf injury for a long time. Apart from this, he also had a problem in his thumb. This was the reason why he could not take the field in the entire tournament. However, he remained continuously associated with the team and was seen guiding the players in the dressing room.
