Sanjay Singh, Patna. The police campaign against criminals in Patna seems to be continuously intensifying. The encounter between police and miscreants in Charma village of Masaurhi in the early hours of Wednesday created a sensation in the entire area. Notorious criminal Ajay Paswan, wanted in a robbery of Rs 27 lakh, was injured after being shot by the police, while his associate Ajay Yadav alias Chhotu alias Sarwan was arrested.
Police had received secret information that Ajay Paswan along with his gang was preparing to carry out some major criminal incident. As soon as the information was received, Masaurhi police station surrounded Charma village and started raiding. It is being told that as soon as the police team reached near the criminals, the miscreants, seeing themselves surrounded, started firing. In retaliation, the police also took charge and the bullet fired hit Ajay Paswan in the leg. As soon as he got injured, he fell on the ground and the police caught him from the spot.
Police chased and caught the accused
During the encounter, Ajay Yadav alias Chhotu was trying to escape. However, the police team chased him and arrested him also. Both the criminals were being wanted for a long time in many serious cases.
The gang had its eye on the gold businessman
Investigation has also revealed that this gang was preparing to target a gold businessman of Masaurhi. According to police sources, the criminals had also conducted recce of the businessman’s activities and establishment. It is believed that if the police had not become active in time, a major robbery could have taken place in the area.
Weapons, cartridges and many secrets
After the encounter, the police recovered a pistol, a country-made pistol and several live cartridges from the criminals. Several cases of murder, robbery, extortion and Arms Act are said to be registered against both the accused. As soon as information about the incident was received, many senior officials including Karthikeya Raj reached the spot and started investigation. The police are now interrogating the arrested criminals and continuously conducting raids in search of other gang members.
