On the evening of May 21, a 10-year-old girl suddenly went missing from the Sulur area of Coimbatore district, Tamil Nadu. The girl had gone to a nearby shop to buy some items but failed to return home for a considerable period. Subsequently, her family filed a missing person’s complaint at the nearest police station. The police formed multiple teams to search for the girl and initiated an investigation; the very next day, her body was discovered near a lake in the Kannampalayam area. The police investigation revealed that the girl had been raped before being brutally murdered. Following the revelation of this incident, public outrage erupted across the entire state of Tamil Nadu. Protests were held in several locations, and demands were raised for the government to ensure the accused are punished as swiftly as possible. Acting swiftly in the matter, the police arrested two accused individuals. Among them, the prime accused has been identified as Karthik, who is reported to be a resident of Nagapattinam. Currently, the interrogation of both accused individuals is underway.
