Indian Railways Cancelled Trains: If you are planning to travel for sightseeing, to visit home, or for a vacation by train this June, this news could be extremely important for you. Indian Railways has decided to cancel a large number of trains in June 2026, a move that could cause inconvenience to thousands of passengers. Many people head directly to the station without checking their train's status, only to discover upon arrival that their train has been cancelled or its route has been diverted. This time, in addition to cancelling 77 trains, the Railways has also altered the routes and timings of several other trains. Given this situation, it is highly advisable to check the status of your train before setting out on your journey.
Why were so many trains cancelled?
According to the Railways, work related to the construction of a fourth railway line is currently underway at Champa Station within the Bilaspur Railway Division. Consequently, several trains have been temporarily cancelled, while the routes of others have been diverted. These changes are expected to impact passengers across multiple states, including West Bengal, Maharashtra, Gujarat, and Madhya Pradesh.
How many trains have been affected?
According to the Railways, a total of 77 trains have been cancelled in June. This figure includes 65 Express trains and 12 Passenger trains. Furthermore, several other trains have also been impacted. The routes of approximately 8 trains have been diverted, while 6 trains will be short-terminated—meaning they will end their journey at a station prior to their scheduled destination. The timings of certain trains have also been revised, which may result in extended travel durations for passengers.
The list of trains affected in June includes several long-distance Express trains. Notable among these are the Tatanagar-Bilaspur Express, South Bihar Express, Ahmedabad-Howrah Express, Howrah-CSMT Express, Hatia-Pune Express, and Puri-Jodhpur Express. Additionally, trains such as the Okha-Shalimar Express, Kamakhya-LTT Express, Gaya-LTT Express, and Udaipur-Shalimar Express will also remain cancelled on various dates throughout June.
Which trains have had their routes diverted? The Railways has decided to divert several Duronto and long-distance trains to alternative routes. These include trains such as the Howrah-Pune Duronto Express, CSMT-Howrah Duronto Express, and the Gyaneshwari Express. These trains will now operate via Raipur, Titlagarh, and Jharsuguda.
If you are planning to travel by train in June, be sure to check the live status of your train on the Railway App, NTES, or the IRCTC platform before heading to the station. Often, updates regarding train cancellations or route changes are released at the very last minute. By staying informed in advance, you can adjust your travel plans and avoid unnecessary inconvenience.
