The trend of remakes of old superhit songs is continuously increasing in Bollywood, but sometimes these remakes also become the cause of controversy. Now something similar has happened with the new version of the song ‘Chunri-Chunri’. This song from Varun Dhawan’s upcoming film Hai Jawaani To Ishq Hona Hai* became a topic of discussion on social media as soon as it was released.

While some people liked the song, a large number of fans started trolling it. People say that the charm of the original song is not visible in this remake. Now the entry of original singer Abhijeet Bhattacharya in this controversy has heated up the matter further.

Abhijeet Bhattacharya targets Varun Dhawan

The original singer of ‘Chunri-Chunri’, Abhijeet Bhattacharya, while talking to ANI, openly expressed his displeasure about the remake. He said that this song was the biggest hit of Salman Khan’s career and is still on people’s lips even today.

Abhijeet said, “No matter how hard Varun Dhawan tries, he cannot become Salman Khan.” He also said that Varun mostly does “second hand films”, especially those whose original versions were made by his father David Dhawan. This statement of the singer is becoming increasingly viral on social media and people are giving different reactions to it.

Why is the original song ‘Chunri-Chunri’ special?

The song ‘Chunri-Chunri’ from the film Biwi No. 1, released in 1999, was among the biggest hit songs of that era. The pair of Salman Khan and Sushmita Sen was seen in this song. Fans still remember the song’s music, dance and Salman’s style. This is why when its remake came out, people started comparing it directly with the original. Abhijeet Bhattacharya says that this is not just a song, but an identity of a memorable period. Therefore, while making a remake, it is important to maintain its soul.

Difficulties increased before the release of the film

Varun Dhawan’s film Hai Jawaani To Ishq Hona Hai is going to be released in theaters on June 5. Mrunal Thakur, Pooja Hegde and Mouni Roy will be seen with him in the film. But even before the release of the film, controversy has arisen regarding the remake of ‘Chunri-Chunri’. Even before this, questions have been raised regarding copyright on the film. Actually, Biwi No. 1 producer Vashu Bhagnani had alleged that the song was used without permission. Later this matter calmed down, but now Abhijeet’s statement has again intensified the discussion.
