New Delhi: These days the turmoil in the politics of West Bengal has intensified. After the defeat in the assembly elections, reports of dissatisfaction within the Trinamool Congress are continuously coming to the fore. Now a big claim by senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader and Bankura MP Soumitra Khan has further heated up the politics of the state. He has claimed that many TMC MLAs and MPs are angry with their own party and are in touch with the BJP.
BJP MP Soumitra Khan said that about 50 MLAs of Trinamool Congress are not happy with the party leadership. He claims that many of these MLAs are in constant touch with BJP leaders. Not only this, he also said that about 20 TMC MPs are also ready to leave the party and join BJP. He claimed that if the central leadership of BJP gives a signal, then a big change can be seen in the politics of Bengal. According to Soumitra Khan, dissatisfaction within TMC has increased so much that many leaders are now looking for new political options.
Abhishek Banerjee also targeted
During his statement, Soumitra Khan also made a scathing attack on TMC leader Abhishek Banerjee. He said that those who do wrong things definitely have to face the consequences one day. The BJP MP alleged that injustice was done to BJP workers during the 2021 elections and now the effect of the same is being seen. He said that the public teaches a lesson to those who misuse power.
Displeasure of TMC leaders became a topic of discussion
In fact, for some time now, news of resentment within TMC has been continuously emerging. Recently, Barasat MP Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar was removed from the post of Chief Whip of the party in the Lok Sabha. Apart from this, Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar’s participation in the meeting of opposition leader Subhendu Adhikari with some MLAs also became a big topic of discussion.
TMC called the claims false
However, Trinamool Congress has completely rejected these claims of the BJP MP. TMC MP Saugata Roy said that BJP is only trying to spread confusion. He clearly said that there is no situation like any MP or MLA of the party joining BJP. According to Saugata Roy, TMC is completely united and the opposition is only trying to create an atmosphere through rumours.
It is noteworthy that there are total 42 Lok Sabha seats in West Bengal. In the last Lok Sabha elections, TMC had won 29 seats, while BJP had won 12 seats. Congress had secured one seat. In such a situation, this claim of the BJP MP is being considered very important politically.
