The Brazilian star could become the third fan favourite to leave Anfield this summer.
Alisson Becker may have played his last game at Anfield last Sunday, when Liverpool drew 1-1 with Brentford.
Having already bid farewell to icons Mohamed Salah and Andy Robertson in the same match, Liverpool are now facing a challenge to hold on to Alisson, who has been linked with Serie A giants Juventus since early this year.
The Brazilian goalkeeper, a two-time Golden Glove winner and Premier League champion, endured a season plagued by injuries, during which Giorgi Mamardashvili filled in throughout Liverpool’s 2025/26 campaign.
The Georgian deputy, once seen as a potential long-term replacement for Alisson, struggled to make the desired impact in the chances he got during the recent Premier League season.
Mamardashvili managed only two clean sheets in 10 Premier League appearances for Liverpool, conceding 18 goals, as the Reds finished with the lowest points tally ever recorded by a team qualifying for the Champions League in a 38-game Premier League season.
According to transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano, Liverpool have made it clear to Alisson—whom FourFourTwo once described as the best goalkeeper in Premier League history—that they want him to stay for the upcoming 2026/27 season.
Romano stated: “Liverpool told Alisson, ‘we want you to stay, we want you to be our goalkeeper, we believe in you.’”
He further added: “The decision now lies with Alisson. He was tempted by Juventus, no doubt, but he was only considering leaving if Liverpool gave their approval.”
“Alisson has never wanted to damage his relationship or legacy with Liverpool as a club legend. So the idea of him leaving against the club’s wishes has never been on the table,” Romano continued.
The Brazilian, who had reportedly agreed personal terms with Juventus after being offered a multi-year deal in April, now looks set to remain at Liverpool unless unexpected developments occur.
Juventus, meanwhile, failed to qualify for the Champions League in the 2025/26 Serie A season, missing out on the final day after a 2-2 draw with Torino.
Cesc Fabregas’ Como clinched the last Champions League spot with a commanding 4-1 win over Cremonese, while Roma, Napoli, and Inter Milan secured the top three positions.
For Liverpool’s world-class goalkeeper, the idea of finishing his career in the Europa League with Juventus might not be as appealing as staying to fight for top honours at Anfield.
