La Liga side Osasuna have officially confirmed on Monday that they have parted company with their head coach Alessio Lisci, with the decision taking immediate effect.
Lisci had taken charge of Osasuna only a year ago, after an impressive spell in the dugout at Mirandés that earned him recognition within Spanish football circles.
However, his first season at El Sadar turned out to be a difficult one, as the team endured a tough campaign that ended with a tense battle to avoid relegation following a poor run of results in the closing weeks of the league.
Ultimately, Osasuna managed to preserve their La Liga status by the narrowest of margins, staying up on goal difference alone.
Just two days after the conclusion of the season, the club’s management decided to relieve Lisci of his duties in Pamplona, holding him accountable for the team’s underwhelming performance.
In an official statement released through Osasuna’s website, the club announced:
“Club Atlético Osasuna has decided to part ways with head coach Alessio Lisci. The club extends its gratitude to the Italian coach for his dedication, effort, and commitment during his time leading Los Rojillos, as well as for the respect he showed towards the club’s members, fans, board of directors, and staff.”
