Lille OSC have officially confirmed that Bruno Génésio will step down from his position as head coach at the conclusion of the current season, with his contract set to expire at the end of next month.

Génésio took charge of the team in 2024 on a two-year agreement, succeeding Paulo Fonseca. During his debut season, he guided Lille through an impressive UEFA Champions League run, which included victories over Real Madrid and Atlético de Madrid, along with a hard-fought draw against Juventus.

Before his departure, Génésio ensured that Lille’s next manager would also have the opportunity to compete in the Champions League, as he secured a third-place finish in Ligue 1, guaranteeing automatic qualification to the league phase. This achievement placed Lille ahead of two of his former clubs, Olympique Lyonnais and Stade Rennais.

The club was unable to persuade the 59-year-old manager to renew his contract in northern France. Génésio has been linked with a potential move to Olympique de Marseille, where reports suggest that Les Phocéens are unlikely to continue with Habib Beye as their head coach.
