Delhi Bus Stands: The bus stands in the national capital, Delhi, are soon set to go high-tech. The Delhi government has launched a plan to modernize and revamp bus stops, bus queue shelters, and bus terminals across the entire city. This project is estimated to cost over ₹650 crore. Its objective is to enhance existing public transport facilities and to construct new shelters in locations where they are currently lacking.
**Delhi’s Bus Stands to Become High-Tech**
Specifically, the Delhi Transport Infrastructure Development Corporation (DTIDC) has issued a tender. Through this tender, a company will be selected to design the entire project and oversee its execution. Additionally, the selected agency will conduct a city-wide survey to identify specific locations where new bus queue shelters are required.
**Facilities Available at Bus Stands**
This project will cover approximately 3,575 existing bus shelters in Delhi, which are currently maintained by the DTIDC. The project's cost includes the maintenance expenses for these facilities for the next 20 years. According to Transport Minister Pankaj Singh, the new bus shelters will prioritize modern technology and passenger comfort.
These facilities will feature provisions for installing panic alarm systems, digital advertising panels, LED lighting, weather information displays, and solar panels. Furthermore, every shelter will be equipped with a Public Information System, enabling passengers to access real-time information regarding bus services.
To further enhance passenger convenience, digital display boards will be installed to display information regarding bus routes and bus numbers. The government aims to complete the entire project within six months of the tender being awarded. This initiative marks a significant step toward modernizing public transport in Delhi and improving the overall passenger experience.
