Thiruvananthapuram: Heavy rain has started in Kerala. It seems that this time monsoon may arrive before time. Although the Meteorological Department (IMD) has not yet officially announced the arrival of monsoon, but the conditions are becoming favourable. Normally monsoon reaches Kerala on 1st June, but this time it is expected to arrive on 26th May.
IMD’s alert and forecast
The India Meteorological Department said on Sunday night that in the next 2-3 days, the southwest monsoon is going to advance further into various parts of the Arabian Sea, Comorin area, Bay of Bengal and Andaman Sea.
Yellow alert issued in Kerala
The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert of heavy rain in many districts of Kerala:
May 25: Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Malappuram, Kozhikode and Wayanad.
May 26: Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Alappuzha and Ernakulam
May 27: Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam and Alappuzha
May 28: Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam and Idukki.
The department estimates that from May 28 to June 3, there may be heavy to very heavy rain in some areas of Kerala.
It is still hot in Delhi and North India
Heat will persist in the capital Delhi for the next three days. It is extremely hot in many places across the country. On Sunday, the temperature in Brahmapuri, Maharashtra reached 47.2 degrees Celsius, which was the highest temperature in the country.
When will we get relief from the heat?
According to the Meteorological Department, the heat is expected to gradually reduce from May 29. Heat wave to severe heat wave conditions will prevail in Central and North-West India for the next 7 days. The heat wave may continue in Eastern India and the Peninsular region for the next 3-5 days.
There will be dry weather in most areas of Rajasthan for the next 3-4 days. The temperature in western Rajasthan can reach 46-47 degrees on 26-27 May. Along with severe heat, there is also a possibility of thunderstorm and rain in some districts of Andhra Pradesh. The State Disaster Management Authority has issued an alert of severe heat wave for the next three days.
