Haiti will arrive at the 2026 FIFA World Cup as one of the smallest nations to ever compete at the tournament.
This will be only the second time that Haiti has reached the World Cup finals, marking a historic moment for the Caribbean nation.
Their qualification for the 2026 World Cup not only highlights the complex geopolitical setting surrounding the competition but also represents a major milestone in Haitian football. The team’s only previous appearance came in 1974 in West Germany, where they lost all three of their group matches.
In the history of the World Cup, only two players of Haitian heritage have scored goals — one of them being Joe Gaetjens, who famously netted for the United States against England in 1950. Despite being among the least experienced sides in the tournament, head coach Sebastien Migne will be eager to see his team make history once again, even if in small ways.
Haiti will rely heavily on their star forward Wilson Isidor, regarded as one of the best players the country has ever produced. Following an excellent season with Sunderland, fans are hopeful that Isidor can deliver standout performances against some of football’s biggest teams.
Another familiar name for Premier League followers is Jean-Ricner Bellegarde, while the rest of the squad features players from Ligue 2, the USL Championship, Iran’s Persian Gulf League, and Haiti’s domestic league based in Port-au-Prince.
The squad appears to be in its physical prime, with most of the 26-man group aged between 25 and 29 — suggesting the timing could hardly be better for their World Cup challenge.
Realistically, Haiti will need positive results against Scotland or Morocco to have any chance of progressing beyond the group stage. Their clash against Brazil will be the toughest test, though even a strong showing could inspire Haitian football fans for years to come.

Haiti competes in Group C at the 2026 World Cup.
Head Coach: Sebastien Migne
French coach Sebastien Migne, a former midfielder who spent a brief spell with Leyton Orient in the late 1990s, took charge of Haiti in mid-2024. Due to political instability back home, the Grenadiers played their qualifying fixtures in Curacao, meaning Migne has yet to visit Haiti in person.
He previously managed three African national teams and gained valuable tournament experience at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations with Kenya, as well as serving as assistant coach to Rigobert Song for Cameroon during the 2023 edition held in Ivory Coast.
Kenya exited in the group stage under Migne in 2019, and Haiti might face similar challenges. However, their strong qualifying campaign offers genuine optimism for securing their first-ever World Cup victory.
Haiti’s squad includes two current Premier League players. Burnley defender Hannes Delcroix is among them, but it is Wolverhampton Wanderers’ Jean-Ricner Bellegarde who truly excites Haitian supporters.
Bellegarde, who has become a Premier League regular since joining Wolves from Strasbourg in 2023, is known for his energy and creativity on the pitch. Born in France and once a French Under-21 international, he switched allegiance to Haiti in August 2025, and now looks set for a starring role in their World Cup campaign.
