Quetta: Shocking news has once again emerged from Balochistan, Pakistan’s troubled and insurgency-affected province. A massive and powerful blast has been carried out targeting a passenger train in Quetta, the capital of Balochistan. As a result of this massive explosion, several coaches of the train derailed and created an atmosphere of great panic and chaos in the entire area.
Blast took place in Man Phatak area, compartment caught fire
According to preliminary information received, this terrible accident happened near Man Fatak area of Quetta when a passenger train was coming from Cantonment (Cantt) railway station. Meanwhile, a powerful explosion was made very close to the railway track. The intensity of the blast was so great that in the blink of an eye several coaches of the train derailed with a strong shock. Immediately after the accident, a massive fire broke out in a compartment of the train. The flames were so strong that the plume of black smoke could be clearly seen in the sky from several kilometers away.
Relief and rescue operations continue on war footing
As soon as information about the incident was received, there was panic in the local administration, police and railway department. Immediately security agencies and rescue teams reached the spot and started relief and rescue operations on war footing. The work of safely evacuating the panicked passengers trapped in the coaches has been done on priority. The people injured in this tragic accident are being admitted to nearby hospitals with the help of ambulance.
At present, the official number of casualties in this terrorist incident has not been confirmed by the railway administration or security forces. Security forces have tightly cordoned off the entire area and efforts are being made to find out how the blast was carried out on the track.
