Who Is Shamir Chandran: Indian-origin oncologist’s name removed from UK medical register. The tribunal concluded that he was a major threat to the safety of the general public. He has been found guilty in serious cases like coercion and cruelty to a minor. According to the information, he worked as an oncologist in a hospital in Newcastle. He was sentenced to four years in prison in November. He was found guilty of cruelty to a minor person.

According to BBC, the Medical Practitioners Tribunal Service (MPTS) has ordered his name to be removed from the medical register. According to sources, Shameer Chandran did not appear for his criminal trial at Carlisle Crown Court. He also did not register his presence for the disciplinary hearing. After leaving the UK, a warrant for his arrest has been issued and the search for him is now underway. There are many serious allegations against him like threatening, taking advantage of money and targeting weak people. MPTS also found that Chandran may harm another person in future.

The tribunal further said that ‘If Shameer Chandran is allowed to practice medicine, it will reduce the confidence of the common people in this profession. Chandran said in his e-mail that ‘his entire medical career has been ruined because of whatever happened to him in Britain. He is extremely disappointed and angry with this whole process. He will never work in the UK again. He further said that ‘due to the GMC investigation he had to leave his NHS job and return to his country.’

According to tribunal records, Chandran obtained his MBBS degree from the University of Calicut Academy of Medical Sciences in Pariyaram, Kerala in 2001. After which he went to UK. He worked as an oncologist.
