Manchester United are reportedly making significant progress behind the scenes to gain approval from their top transfer targets ahead of the upcoming summer transfer window.

Reports suggest that Ederson, Sandro Tonali, and Mateus Fernandes have all expressed openness to a potential move to Old Trafford.

Now, another of United’s long-term targets could soon become available, paving the way for a possible high-profile summer signing.

According to Givemesport, Newcastle United’s left-back and lifelong fan Lewis Hall is currently reassessing his future at St James’ Park.

It is understood that Hall has been left frustrated by how the latter part of the season unfolded under manager Eddie Howe, who opted to start Dan Burn in key matches instead of the young defender.

Adding to his disappointment, Burn was named in Thomas Tuchel’s World Cup squad, while Hall was omitted from the list headed to America. This exclusion has reportedly deepened the 21-year-old’s frustration.

Sources close to the player indicate that Hall is “devastated” by the omission, especially after a strong season in which he solidified his reputation as one of the most technically accomplished young full-backs in football. Alan Shearer previously hailed him as “absolutely outstanding.”

In recent days, Bayern Munich have shown interest in signing Hall. However, it is believed that the youngster prefers to continue his career in the Premier League rather than move abroad.

Manchester United are said to have maintained a long-standing interest in Hall, with INEOS reportedly eager to add a new left-back to the squad this summer.

Tyrell Malacia is expected to leave as a free agent, and with the ageing Luke Shaw — who also missed out on England selection — struggling with consistency, United are keen to strengthen the position before the new season.

The former Chelsea defender remains under contract with Newcastle until 2029, giving the Magpies a strong hand in any potential transfer negotiations, regardless of the player’s personal preferences.
