CBI arrests food dept assistant commissioner in ration card bribery case

The CBI has arrested an assistant commissioner from the food and supply department for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000. The officer was accused of demanding Rs 100 per ration card for the allotment of 475 cards. The CBI apprehended the official during a trap operation while he was allegedly receiving the bribe.

The Central Bureau of Investigation has arrested an assistant commissioner from the food and supply department for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000 linked to the allotment of ration cards.

Allegations Related to Ration Card Allotment

According to officials, the case was registered on May 20 following a complaint alleging that the officer demanded Rs 100 per ration card for the allotment of 475 ration cards.

It was further alleged that nearly 120 ration cards were proposed to be allotted to each nearby ration shop, including the complainant’s shop, taking the total alleged bribe demand to around Rs 12,000.


CBI Trap Operation

After receiving the complaint, the CBI reportedly conducted a trap operation and caught the accused official red-handed while allegedly accepting the bribe amount.

CBI Appeals to Citizens

“Citizens who come across instances of corruption or are subjected to demands for bribes by public officials are encouraged to report such matters. They may call on 011-24367887 and mobile No. 9650394847 to lodge their complaints or share any relevant information,” official said.
