Serie A’s Most Valuable Player for the 2025/26 season, Federico Dimarco, once again demonstrated why he deserved the honour with a standout performance on Saturday.
During Inter Milan’s final league fixture against Bologna, the Italian wing-back seized a golden opportunity to break the deadlock—and did so with remarkable finesse.
Dimarco executed his free-kick to perfection, curling the ball with his left foot over the defensive wall and into the top right corner of the net, leaving the goalkeeper with no chance.
The goal marked his seventh of an exceptional season. Inter manager Cristian Chivu was visibly impressed on the sidelines, responding with a slow, appreciative clap as he watched the strike go in.
According to Opta, the defender “has been involved in the most goals in a single season in the Big-5 European leagues over the last 20 seasons (since 2006/07), only surpassed by Alejandro Grimaldo in 2023/24 (23 - 10 goals and 13 assists)”. A truly exceptional statistic that highlights Dimarco’s influence.
Despite his stunning effort, Inter later conceded, meaning they may need more brilliance from their star man before the final whistle of the campaign.
