Mohammed Shami Record: Lucknow Supergiants fast bowler Mohammed Shami has made another big record in his name in IPL history. Now he has become the bowler taking the most wickets on the very first ball of an IPL innings. Shami did this feat for the 6th time, while Jofra Archer has done it 5 times.

Against Punjab Kings, Shami gave a big success to Lucknow by taking the wicket of Priyansh Arya on the very first ball. Priyansh’s catch was taken by Arjun Tendulkar, who played his first match this season.

Shami is proving dangerous with the new ball

Shami has proved to be very dangerous with the new ball in IPL 2026. In the first over, he bowled 13 overs and took 5 wickets. During this period, his economy rate was 7.23, while 61.5 percent of the balls were dot. That means it was not easy for the batsmen to score runs against them from the very beginning.

How was IPL 2026 for Priyansh Arya?

Priyansh Arya’s performance this season seemed divided into two different parts. In the first 7 matches of the season, he batted stormily and scored 283 runs. During this period his average was 40.42 and strike rate was 250.44. He also scored 2 half-centuries, but his form completely declined in the next 6 matches. In this phase he could score only 81 runs. The average dropped to 13.5, while the strike rate also dropped to 137.3. However, during this period a fifty definitely came from his bat.

Interestingly, Priyansh Arya has been very aggressive against the short balls of fast bowlers this season. He has scored 141 runs on 55 balls. His strike rate was 256.4 and he hit 10 fours and 14 sixes. However, during this period he was also out 4 times.

On the other hand, Cooper Connolly is close to creating history in his debut IPL season. While playing for Punjab Kings, he has scored 491 runs so far and he has reached second place in the list of most successful debut season batsmen in IPL history.

Shaun Marsh still tops this list, who scored 616 runs for Punjab in 2008. After this comes Cooper Connolly. Priyansh Arya is in fourth place with 475 runs, while Devdutt Padikkal and Shreyas Iyer are also included in this special list.
