Bengaluru. A 50-year-old boxing coach in Bengaluru, Karnataka has been accused of allegedly sexually assaulting a 17-year-old female boxer. In this matter, a case has been registered against the boxing coach under the POCSO Act. Following a written complaint by the minor’s mother, an FIR was registered at Sampangiramnagar police station on Friday afternoon.
Let us tell you that the accused, who works as a coach in a private boxing club located inside the stadium complex on Kasturba Road, is accused of harassing the minor for the last 4 months. According to the complaint, the abuse escalated during a recent sporting event held outside Karnataka.
On May 17, when the victim was in Chennai for a boxing competition, the coach allegedly called her to his private room and touched her inappropriately despite her protests. The complaint further states that similar incidents of inappropriate physical contact took place at the stadium in Bengaluru.

According to reports, the victim hid the abuse from her family out of fear, as the coach had allegedly threatened to kill her and warned that she would not be spared if she disclosed the matter.
The victim’s mother told that her daughter has been taking training in this private boxing club for the last 10 years. The allegations against the coach show that his misconduct began much earlier. The severity of the harassment reportedly increased over the past 5 to 6 months. Before the police intervened, a formal complaint had already been lodged with the club’s internal committee regarding the coach’s misconduct.
Following the mother’s plea for immediate intervention, the police have registered a case against the coach under sections 8 and 12 of the POCSO Act, 2012, and section 351(2) of the Indian Judicial Code, 2023. Further investigation is ongoing.
