Donald Trump on Iran War: US President Donald Trump claimed on Wednesday that work is being done rapidly to end the ongoing tension and war-like situation with Iran. However, he also made it clear that if talks fail, America can take military action again.
Trump said that Iran now appears to be very desperate for a compromise and if a deal is made, there will be a huge fall in the prices of crude oil across the world. At a public event, Trump said, “We are ending everything. We are ending everything. And we will end this war very quickly.”
What did Donald Trump say?
He said that this dispute should have been resolved many decades ago. Trump said, “This work should have been done 47 years ago. Someone should have done something. Now it will happen and it will happen very fast.” Trump also claimed that there is no shortage of oil in the world and oil prices will come down rapidly in the coming times. He said, “You will see oil prices falling. There is too much oil in the world and prices will go down rapidly.”
Was America going to make a big attack?
According to Reuters report, Trump later revealed in the White House that America had come very close to launching another attack on Iran. He said that the proceedings were stopped just before the decision was taken. Trump said, “I was just an hour away from making the decision to attack today.”
His statement has come at a time when just a day before he had said that after the new proposal from Tehran, America has stopped the plan to resume military action for the time being. This proposal was given with the aim of ending the ongoing conflict between America, Israel and Iran. Trump claimed Iranian leaders were “begging for a deal” and warned that if talks did not succeed, the US could strike again within days.
What kind of pressure on Trump?
Reuters report states that domestic pressure on the Trump administration is continuously increasing. In particular, there is pressure on the government to fully reopen the Strait of Hormuz. This sea route is considered very important for oil supply in the world. According to the report, rising prices of petrol and diesel and falling popularity before the Congress elections have increased the problems of the Trump administration.
Why is it not easy to negotiate with Iran?
US Vice President JD Vance also said that “considerable progress” has been made in talks between the US and Iran and both sides want to avoid another major military operation. “We’re in a pretty good spot right now,” Vance said. While talking to the media at the White House, Vance admitted that Iran’s power system is divided into many parts, due to which negotiations are not easy.
He said, “Many times it is not clear what the real position of the negotiating team is.” However, he also said that America is clearly putting forward its “red lines” i.e. boundaries. According to Reuters, Vance said that a major objective of Trump’s strategy is to prevent a new nuclear arms race in the Middle East.
Why did America postpone the attack?
On the other hand, in Tehran, Ebrahim Azizi, head of the Iranian Parliament’s National Security Committee, claimed that Trump postponed the attack because he understood that Iran would give a “decisive military response” to any action. According to Iranian government media, Tehran’s new peace plan includes many important demands. These include ending the conflict on different fronts including Lebanon, withdrawing US forces from around Iran, compensating for the damage caused by US and Israeli attacks, removing economic sanctions, releasing Iran’s reserves and ending the US naval blockade.
