Users of Claude AI reported widespread access and performance issues on Friday, with outage-monitoring platform Downdetector showing a noticeable surge in complaints to the AI platform.
According to user reports, the issues primarily affected Claude Chat, Claude Code, and mobile app connectivity, raising fresh concerns around the reliability and scalability of rapidly growing AI platforms as adoption continues to accelerate globally.
The outage reports come at a time when millions of users increasingly rely on conversational AI tools for writing, coding, research, automation, and everyday productivity tasks. Users across social media platforms also reported delays in responses, login failures, and intermittent service disruptions during the outage window.
Downdetector data suggested that conversational access issues formed the largest portion of complaints, followed by developer-focused Claude Code functionality and mobile application performance problems.
Claude AI, developed by Anthropichas emerged as one of the fastest-growing competitors in the generative AI industry, particularly among enterprise users, developers, researchers, and businesses seeking advanced AI assistants for workflow automation and coding support.
The latest disruption also highlights the growing infrastructure pressure facing major AI companies as user traffic, enterprise deployment, and inference demand continue scaling rapidly across the sector.
